Pre-Columbian, West Mexican, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. This is a hollow pottery figure of a seated woman with decorated headband, arm bands, and skirt; she sits with her hands on her hips and her mouth bared in a grimace, teeth displayed, both traditional postures of these figures. She is one of the figures from the West Mexican shaft tomb tradition. Size: 9" H x 6" W x 4" L (23 cm x 15 cm x 10 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
