Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fabulous terracotta figure of a nude female shown seated with legs outstretched before her and arms bent to rest her hands on her waist. Though featuring an elongated head typical of Nayarit pottery, her visage showcases uncommon characteristics such as petite, circular eyes, a flattened nose with broad nostrils, and an open, rectangular mouth. A pair of large, cupped ears flank her face, and a straight, incised coiffure crowns her head. Size: 7.3" L x 8.2" W x 13.1" H (18.5 cm x 20.8 cm x 33.3 cm)

Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000
