Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit culture, ca. 300 BCE to 200 CE. A fascinating pottery head of an animal featuring stylized characteristics of raised, target motif eyes, a slender nasal bridge that extends to a tapered snout and nubbin nose with delineated nostrils, and an incised smile, all surmounted by a pair of petite ears. Beige-painted details adorn the face and neck, nicely complementing the warm red ground. Size: 3.5" L x 3.4" W x 3.4" H (8.9 cm x 8.6 cm x 8.6 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.
