Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. Beautiful polychromed terracotta bowl of an elegant form and impressive decorative program created by the ancient Nayarit. The elaborate four part "clover-like" design is painted in red and orange against a cream ground, the interior of each leaf or lobe meticulously adorned with a net pattern. Size: 5.2" W x 3" H (13.2 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
