Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco, Type C variant, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built Chinesco pottery figure, so called because early scholars thought their features mimicked characteristics found on Chinese artistry. The voluptuous figure presents with ample red and black pigment on the cream-hued body, with tattooed stripes across the chest and face. Size: 3.6" L x 5.6" W x 7.25" H (9.1 cm x 14.2 cm x 18.4 cm)

Provenance: Private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000.
