Native American, Western United States, Northwestern California, Hupa / Yurok culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-woven and twined basketry tray - a slightly conical base, that flares out to create a flattened plate. The warps are usually made from willow or hazel sticks and then twined over with wefts of native grasses, ferns, or other plants. The ends of these stick warps are left bare and then bent and interlaced together to form this rim. Size: 11" Diameter (27.9 cm)
