Description:

Native American, Western United States, Southern Wyoming, Plains Tribes, ca. 200 to 1000 CE. A hand-carved full groove stone tool with an elongated ovoid body. A groove encircles the center of the stone, hence the 'full-groove' designation, and was likely used for attaching the stone to a handle to act like a hammer or mace head. The stone is a nice brick-red color with white inclusions. Size: 5.75" L x 2.07" W (14.6 cm x 5.3 cm)

Provenance: private Englewood, Colorado, USA collection, found in southern Wyoming in the 1950s to 1960s
