Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, Lakota (Sioux) or Arapahoe, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A fine pair of beaded hide moccasins with tin jingle cones on the tongues and extensive beadwork covering most of the surface. The vibrant seed beads are meticulously lane (lazy) stitched into the hide, creating intricate geometric motifs. On the toes are elongated green shapes tapering at the tips to resemble the cloven tracks of the majestic bison, a revered symbol within Plains tribes' culture. Size: 10.5" L x 3.75" W (26.7 cm x 9.5 cm)
