Description:

Native American, Midwestern United States, Ohio, Adena culture, early Woodland period, ca. 800 to 100 BCE. A fine and choice chert projectile point knapped from a colorful Flint Ridge stone into a triangular, stemmed point. Thousands of shallow quarries were dug in the Ohio Flint Ridge region for the chert material that was prized for its color and texture - this stone has shimmering quartz crystals as well as a pretty pink-red hue. When heated the stone's colors become more vibrant as well. The early mound builders - Hopewell and Adena cultures - shaped and traded Ohio flint which has been found as far west as the Rocky Mountains! Size: 3" L x 1.5" W (7.6 cm x 3.8 cm)
