Micah Vogel (Native American, Makah Nation, 1974-Present) "Eagle Mask" cedar wood & bark, ca. 21st century CE. A hand carved mask made by Micah Vogel, an award winning carving artist from Washington State, who specializes in masks and other traditional Makah items. The eagle is a symbol of power and prestige, with mythic stories of kinship and protection amongst many tribes. The wood is carved from two pieces, the lower beak attached and bark tassel tied with cord to the top, and the pupils are inlaid with a turquoise colored stones. This is a lovely piece for display and has a suspension cord for this purpose. Size: 11" L x 5.5" W x 5.25" H (27.9 cm x 14 cm x 13.3 cm)
