North America, Native American, Michigan, Eastern Woodland, ca. 1000 CE. A stone pendant with a singular hand-drilled perforation through one end. The stone is a dark gray with smoothed edges. The exact use of drilled stones is unknown, however it is thought that these may have been worn as pendants or gorgets and may have indicated rank or prestige. Lucite stand for photography purposes only. Size: 3.43" L x 1.75" W (8.7 cm x 4.4 cm)

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
