Description:

Native American, Midwestern United States, Eastern Woodland culture, Archaic period, ca. 7500 to 6500 BCE (9500 to 8500 BP). A large and pretty hand-knapped Warrick projectile point. The Warrick point is recognizable by its thick cross section and excurvate blade with small notches cut into the base to create downward pointed shoulders. The stem slightly expands to a straight edge base to allow for hafting or attaching to a wooden shaft. The stone itself is a lovely mottled chert with white, pink, and orange hues. A pretty blade like this may have had a ceremonial and ritualistic uses as well as utilitarian.
