Native American, Southwestern United States, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), ca. 1200 to 1400 CE. A tall pottery pitcher with a white body decorated with intricate black-painted motifs. Formed via the coil-and-scrape technique, this pitcher features zigzagging linear bands around the tapered upper body as well as bar and step patterns around the base; even the handle features minimalist linear pairs. Size: 6" W x 6.75" H (15.2 cm x 17.1 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired as shown with small chips, light adhesive residue, and some areas of overpainting along break lines. Abrasions and chips, with fading to original pigment in some areas, light earthen deposits, and area of backfill within body, perhaps for stabilization. Nice preservation to decorations.
