Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Capuli Complex, Narino culture, ca. 850 to 1500 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of intriguing form with a round but stable base, tall walls with slight indentations along the longer sides, and a burnished red-orange basin. The highly burnished exterior surfaces bear remains of negative resist linear and geometric motifs perhaps presented in black pigment when first made. Size: 4.125" L x 2.8" W x 2.3" H (10.5 cm x 7.1 cm x 5.8 cm)

  • Condition: Small chips to rim, with fading to negative resist motifs in most areas, encrustations within basin, and light encrustations and earthen deposits across exterior surfaces, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of pigment within basin. Some negative resist motifs are visible.
