Description:

Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, ca. 1500 BCE. A stunning wheel-made pottery stirrup jar of a classic Mycenaean form with a bulbous body, a raised ring foot, conjoined twin handles, and a side spout. The vessel is enveloped in a creamy beige-hued ground with black and russet red bands encircling the body, rainbow-like motifs of parallel striations on the shoulder, and a concentric circular pattern on the top pendant between the handles. An extremely fine example from approximately 1500 BCE, when Mycenae was at its peak of influence! Size: 5" Diameter x 4" H (12.7 cm x 10.2 cm)
