Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A free-blown glass jar of light yellow-green hues with ribs encircling the apple-shaped body. Atop is a broad neck decorated along the exterior with a single wound trail of glass that begins in the middle of the strands. Fine layers of weathering film and iridescence have developed from centuries of environmental exposure. Size: 3.2" W x 5.375" H (8.1 cm x 13.7 cm)

Exhibited in "Ancient Glass: Selections from the Richard Brockway Collection" at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University, Salem from March 10 to May 19, 2007 and "Glass of the Ancient World" at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Florida from October 11 to December 28, 2008.
