Description:

North Africa, Morocco, upper Cretaceous to Eocene, ca. 93 million years ago to 40,000 years ago. A nice example of a Dryosaurus skull, excavated so that you can peer down upon it from above, noting the structure of its eyes and snout. Dryosaurus is a genus of extinct crocodiles who survived the extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period and thrived for millions more years. They had slender snouts - so well defined here - adapted to living in near-shore marine habitats and munching on fish. The bone structure is spongy and porous, well suited to a fast swimming life. Size: 5" W x 12.25" H (12.7 cm x 31.1 cm)

Provenance: private Ohio, USA collection, acquired before January 2019; ex-private Virginia, USA collection, acquired legally in Morocco
