Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 500 to 800 CE. A remarkable pottery vessel in the form of a shaman wearing a flared headdress that doubles as a spout and holding chumbagas or healing rattles in one hand and a disembodied head in the other. A headband with zoomorphic heads sits below the headdress as a long cape drapes his shoulders and back. A beautiful example with lots of character and intrigue!
