Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, Phase III, ca. 300 to 450 CE. A hand-built pottery stirrup vessel depicting a male supplicant kneeling in front of a lord while presenting him with an offering bowl filled with corn. The lord is seated with crossed legs and hands atop his knees while staring at the kneeling man before him. A stirrup-shaped handle on the verso has a gently tapered spout on top, allowing the vessel to be filled or emptied. Size: 7.125" L x 3.625" W x 5.6" H (18.1 cm x 9.2 cm x 14.2 cm)
