Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru (North Coast), Moche Culture, ca. 100 to 700 CE. This is a stirrup jar with a long, cylindrical spout, a rounded handle, and a body shaped like towering mountains. Atop the mountains, between two peaks, stands a figure, one hand steadying itself on a mountaintop, the other held to his mouth. The figure wears a large headdress with bat-like ears, large round earrings, a very large, cream-slipped necklace, and a belt and wristbands. This is a playful piece, but there's a sinister aura - as if someone just got thrown off a cliff! Size: 6" W x 9.75" H (15.2 cm x 24.8 cm)
