Pre-Columbian, Peru (North Coast), Moche Culture, ca. 100 to 700 CE. Three silver (ca. 75-80% pure) and three copper drug spoons, each of delicate form, with a zoomorphic terminal on the handle and a very small widened dip on the opposite end to form the scoop. Five of these - three copper and two silver - are topped by birds, including hummingbirds and parrots. The sixth is topped by a jaguar. Size of largest: 3.45" H (8.8 cm); 4.2" H (10.7 cm) on included custom stand. 24.2 grams of silver

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
