Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Moche Valley, Salinar, ca. 200 BCE to 100 CE. This comes from the period between the Chavin and the Moche and exhibits strong Moche artistic characteristics. A rare and spectacular stirrup vessel in the form of a bat. His wings are spread in triangular form, his delicate arms and legs etched into the pottery. His teeth are exceptionally sharp, ears rounded. A lovely and very rare vessel! Size: 7"W x 6-1/4"H.
