Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 300 to 400 CE. A beautiful hand-built pottery bottle featuring an exquisite linear motif including a pair of identical zoomorphic figures on each side. The vessel is egg-shaped with a base that is mostly flat. Two perforated nubbin handles accent slight shoulders and are set on either side of a stout, cylindrical neck. The vessel has an orange-brown ground with decorations painted in a light cream hue. Two abstract zoomorphs - perhaps spider monkeys or jaguars - are illustrated across both sides of the bottle - encased within a minimalist linear frame underneath another abstract figuration. Size: 5" W x 8.8" H (12.7 cm x 22.4 cm)
