Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, Phase IV, ca. 450 to 550 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery stirrup vessel in the likeness of a seated male figure, perhaps of noble ranking, with only a single eye. The man sits with hands placed neatly atop tucked knees while dressed in a white and red tunic and thick-brimmed hat. The left eye is closed as if missing the ocular sphere while the other is open and attentive.
