Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, Phase IV, ca. 450 to 650 CE. A hand-built pottery stirrup vessel boasting an exquisitely detailed countenance of a male figure, perhaps a young lord. The veristic visage exhibits puffy lips, a delineated philtrum above the upper lip, petite eyes beneath heavy lids, a pointed chin, and a prominent, lifelike nose, all framed by the lappets of his lengthy cap. Deep umber pigment accentuates the face, handle, and spout while orange and cream-hued pigment embellish the cap. Size: 7.25" L x 5.3" W x 10.1" H (18.4 cm x 13.5 cm x 25.7 cm)
