Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 100 BCE to 300 CE. A fine mold-formed pottery female figure depicted nude and standing atop a pair of attenuated legs with delineated female genitalia. Both of her arms are held tightly against her wide torso with fingers projecting outward as though about to clap or holding something, while rounded shoulders lead upwards to a thick neck. Her expressive visage is comprised of large eyes beneath a defined brow line, a prominent nose, thin lips, and large ears with perforated lobes, all beneath a bulbous headdress. Though nude, a thick collar necklace rests on her clavicle, just above her petite breasts, and bracelets adorn her wrists. Size: 5.9" W x 10.6" H (15 cm x 26.9 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, acquired from 2000 to 2010
