Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche to Huari, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A pair of star-shaped wooden finials, each covered in a layer of metal foil comprised of between 72% and 76% gold as well as 20% to 22% silver. Finials like these were perhaps placed atop mace heads for an eye-catching presentation or were perhaps used as opulent earspools. Size of largest: 1.63" L x 1.56" W x 0.8" H (4.1 cm x 4 cm x 2 cm); metal quality: between 72% and 76% gold, 20% to 22% silver.
