Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche, ca. 400 CE - 600 CE. Skillfully carved, greenstone figural pendant representing a charming male cargador (carrier). This bearer carries a large bag over his shoulder. Despite his heavy load, his facial expression is quite serene. We see no pained expression of his efforts - no closed eyes and open mouth indicating that he is laboring arduously. Rather, his visage is quite peaceful and content. Nor is he leaning over from the burden. This gent is surprisingly happy with his lot in life! Carved from gorgeous stone of a bright and vivid green hue with red cinnabar rubbed in the incised areas to provide a stunning contrast. Holes drilled behind head for suspension. 3-1/2"cm high. Custom stand.
