Description:

Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Moche culture, Moche III, ca. 450 to 600 CE. Wonderful pottery stirrup vessel painted in shades of brick-red and off-white. Procession of standing sea birds walk along coiled serpentine shape, each facing right. At the lowest level is a single fish and under one section where the spout connects is another sea creature, possibly a sea urchin or other creature emerging from the sand. Vessel has a very tactile, soft surface. Size: 5.75" W x 11.75" H (14.6 cm x 29.8 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase
