Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche 2, ca. 100 CE - 200 CE. The Moche created erotic huacos throughout their 800-year period (c. 200 BC to c. 600 AD) resulting in the longest unbroken erotic ceramics tradition in the world, truly unique in the history of mankind. This example depicts a woman performing fellatio on a reclining male. In addition to sexual acts, the Moche used pottery to represent depictions of hermaphroditism and androgeny as well as venereal disease and health conditions such as hemorrhoids. Yes, perhaps this is a bit more information than you wish to hear. However, the Moche deemed it important to record and teach about all aspects of their lives through their art. The largest collection of Moche erotica vessels is in the Museo Arqueologico Rafael Larco Herrera. When one frequents this museum, the erotica pieces are housed in their own separate gallery. 6-1/2"H x 4-1/2"W
