Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 100 to 700 CE. A fine cast-copper axe blade of a long and narrow form with a flared semi-circular blade on the bottom. The projecting points of the blade taper gradually upwards and thicken to form the handle. Atop the handle is the upper body of a highly-stylized anthropomorphic figure with coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a prominent aquiline nose, pursed lips, and tab-shaped ears, all surmounted by a small suspension loop on top. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 1.9" W x 3.3" H (4.8 cm x 8.4 cm); 4.7" H (11.9 cm) on included custom stand.
