Description:

Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Moche culture, ca 300 to 500 CE. Wow! What a stunning and rare piece of ancient metalwork! Ceremonial staff bell cast in almost solid copper (the early cultures of Peru had not yet learned to combine elements, like tin, to their copper to make bronze) in square form with 4 looping rings from which belles hang. What really sets this example apart is the fantastic band of monkeys playing and marching along the top. Included are musicians and pair carrying a litter from which a baby monkey rests. This is just so rare and adorable! Custom stand. Size: 4" L x 4" W x 4" H (10.2 cm x 10.2 cm x 10.2 cm)
