Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche, ca. 200 CE - 400 CE. Two anthropomorphic figures carved in brilliant black stone - the taller one, a mighty warrior wielding a mace head weapon, the other possibly his protege or a supplicating captive. Each was drilled with numerous small depressions intended for the inclusion of decorative stone elements or precious metal bits, now lost in antiquity. Tallest stands at 4.5 cm

Provenance: Ex-Fowler Collection, UK acquired through descent from grandfather who acquired in Peru between 1923-1925.
