Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche III to IV, ca. 400 to 600 CE. A mold-formed blackware pottery vessel with a flat base, a bulbous body, a stirrup-shaped handle along the verso, and a projecting cylindrical spout. The body depicts a nude man and woman during the act of copulation, the woman's head resting on a mat, and the man's head resting on hers. The woman holds a small child at her breast and with her bent arm supports his/her frail head for feeding. A fine erotic example replete with expert stylization and skillful construction. Size: 5.125" W x 5.9" H (13 cm x 15 cm).
