Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, ca. 300 to 700 CE. A hand-built blackware pottery vessel of sizable form depicting the face of a male on the front of the cylindrical spout. Perhaps a lord or warrior, the visage presents with almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, thin lips, and a pair of loop-form ears that perhaps displayed additional ornamentation at one time; the ears likely doubled as the vessel's suspension loops. Size: 5.5" L x 7.25" W x 9.375" H (14 cm x 18.4 cm x 23.8 cm)
