A fine blackware ceremonial pottery rattle in the form of a chalice, depicting the head of a stoic Mochica male, his naturalistic yet dramatic visage comprised of large wide-open, almond-shaped eyes, slightly downturned mouth, prominent ears, and incised wrinkles and/or scarifications on a flared base that contains rattles with a perforated bottom. Size: 5.25" W x 6" H (13.3 cm x 15.2 cm)
