Northern Peru, Moche culture showing strong Salinar influence, Ca 100 BCE to 200 CE. Bi-chrome terracotta stirrup vessel in circular form with a windowed hut resting atop the flat platform. Sitting in the hut appears to be an aged warrior. He sits with shield on his left hand, right hand against his belly. Hut decorated with added spires and red/brown pigment. All-in-all a fascinating look at Moche architecture and customs. 5-1/2" H to top of spout x 7-1/2" W at widest. Provenance: Ex-private Australia/NYC Collection, originally acquired at Sotheby's (sale 71387), NYC in May 1998.The starting price is the lowest price at which this item can sell
