Pre-Columbian, central Mexico, Mixtec or Huastec culture, ca. 1000 to 1521 CE. A hand-carved stone relief - possibly a hacha - of square form depicting a jaguar paw with 5 ovoid toes and an annular foot pad. The paw is surrounded by 4 drill holes, likely for attachment. Size: 3.9" W x 4.6" H (9.9 cm x 11.7 cm); 6.2" H (15.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
