Description:

Native American, American Midwest and Southeast, Mississippian, ca. 11th to 14th century CE. A hand-built pottery jar of sizable, spherical form with a gently rounded but stable base and a tapered neck. Presiding above the body is a minimalist avian head - perhaps that of an owl - with an aquiline beak, enormous circular eyes, and a pair of perky ears protruding from the top. The vessel's spout hole is located atop the neck, opposite the bird's head. Size: 7.61" Diameter x 9.5" H (19.3 cm x 24.1 cm)
