Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gracefully sculpted ceramic right foot with 5 lengthy toes, delineated toenails, and an upward arching bridge. Idealized shapes of feet were developed in Greek sculpture and was copied by Romans. Having an index toe longer than the big toe, as seen in this example, was the aesthetic foot shape that persisted in many Greco-Roman inspired sculptures. Size: 1.1" L x 0.6" W x 0.7" H (2.8 cm x 1.5 cm x 1.8 cm); 1.5" H (3.8 cm) on included custom stand.
