**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A striking miniature cast bronze head with caricature features, the face showing wide open eyes under arched overhanging eyebrows, a prominent, phallic nose, fleshy lips surrounding an open mouth, protruding ears, and a strange coiffure. Grotesques became a subject of art in the Hellenistic Period and continued to be popular in the Roman Empire. Size: 0.6" W x 1.05" H (1.5 cm x 2.7 cm); 1.6" H (4.1 cm) on included custom stand.
