Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of lively miniature pottery figures. One is a burnished dark red standing dog with head up and tail curled up over its back. The dog's mouth is open, his tongue visible, as if he is yawning. The other is a seated human figure who has drawn his/her knees up to the chest in a posture that may be interpreted as "waiting" or "watching". The figure has a large nose ring, earspools, and a wide headdress. Size: 4.55" L x 2.2" W x 2.85" H (11.6 cm x 5.6 cm x 7.2 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Harvey Collection, acquired prior to 1972
