Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A wheel-thrown oinochoe of a miniature size with a footed base, a piriform body with a tapered neck, a trefoil-style pouring spout, and a narrow handle arching between spout and shoulder. The vessel is covered in lustrous jet-black glaze, and fugitive orange pigment forms a long-necked avian figure that is enclosed between vertical borders and partial palmettes. Size: 1.5" W x 2.4" H (3.8 cm x 6.1 cm)
