Southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 325 BCE. A miniature, elegant lekythos (oil pouring vessel) with a long, thin neck ending in a flat, flared rim; a very thin handle rises in a curve from the shoulder up to lower neck. The piece sits on a rounded foot and is glazed in a deep, glossy black that has attained a beautiful iridescence. A broad palmette is depicted in red-figure on the body. Size: 1.65" W x 3.3" H (4.2 cm x 8.4 cm)

Provenance: Ex- Collection of James Farmer, Maryland, collected from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005
