Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Iron Age, Cypro-Archaic Phase, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A beautiful pair of pottery vessels - a jar and a bowl - adorned in red and black pigments. Larger of the 2, the bowl boasts a minimalist form with a planar base and sturdy walls that rise to a conical body and a flared rim incised with vertical striations. Alternatively, the jar displays a wide hip, a sloped shoulder, an attenuated neck, a flared rim, and a ribbon-form handle connecting rim to shoulder, all sitting upon a discoid foot. The exterior is embellished by black-painted horizontal striations and target motifs. Size of largest (bowl): 3.2" Diameter x 1.3" H (8.1 cm x 3.3 cm)

  • Condition: Chipping to foot, shoulder, hip, and handle of jar. Both have expected nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, both are intact and excellent with nice remains of pigment and incised detail. Great earthen deposits throughout.
