Native American, US Southwest, Mogollon, Mimbres Valley, ca. 1150 to 1300 CE. A beautiful and sizeable handbuilt Mimbres black-on-white bowl with extensively decorated and remarkably thin walls sitting on a rounded base. The interior walls are elaborately decorated with abstract geometric, linear, and spiral motifs. According to Hayes and Blom, "Mogollon black-on-white quickly matched Anasazi ware for sophistication. By 1150, it had redefined the standards. The finest of all came from the Mimbres Valley."
