Description:

Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Central Highlands, Jorai people, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden memorial post used in funerary ceremonies. The hexagonal body bulges slightly around the midsection, has a tiered neck collar, and a gourd-shaped finial on top. The body and neck are decorated with repeating windmill-style motifs in thick red and yellow pigment, and the top finial is unadorned. Size: 4.5" W x 32.3" H (11.4 cm x 82 cm); 32.6" H (82.8 cm) on included custom stand.
