Description:

Native American, North America, Pacific Northwest Coast, Haida or Tlingit, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden club used to batter caught fish. The tubular handle is incised with diagonally radiating lines to aid the fisherman's grip especially in wet conditions. The figural head bears the likenesses of three anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures including a serpent or killer whale on the bottom, an enormous human-like figure with a bulbous head, and a petite human figure resting in between the legs of the larger. The surfaces are adorned with brown-hued pigment. Size: 1.8" W x 15.8" H (4.6 cm x 40.1 cm); 16.875" H (42.9 cm) on included custom stand.
