Description:

**First Time At Auction**

New World, Hawaiian Islands, ca. mid 20th century. A beautiful, hand-carved koa wood bowl of a rounded form with walls that curve inward and then gently flare at the rim. In addition to this attractive form, the wood itself is inherently gorgeous, presenting mesmerizing grain patterns and warm lustrous patina. A wonderful example made from wood of the flowering Acacia Koa tree. Interestingly, in the Hawaiian language, the word koa means fearless warrior. Size: 15" in diameter x 6.85" H (38.1 cm x 17.4 cm)
