Description:

North America, Hawaii, ca. 1950's CE. Skillfully carved from Kauila wood, a shark fish hook of an attractive, abstract design that very much resonates with mid-century aesthetics. Kauila wood refers to two tree species of the buckthorn family, one (C. oppositifolia) of which is endangered. Kauila wood is also coveted, because it is extremely hard and dense - It actually sinks in water! A wonderful addition for any collection of South Pacific visual culture! Size: 5.625" W x 11.75" H (14.3 cm x 29.8 cm); 13.625" H (34.6 cm) on included custom stand.
